Hi, my name is Michael and I’m from Texas and I would like to welcome you to the Marie DeBartolo Center for the Performing Arts.

This 150 thousand square foot building was opened in 2004 after three years of construction. The building has seven different foundations to provide acoustic isolation to all of our venues here. There are five venues here at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, and we’re standing in the Leighton Concert Hall right now. They bring in musical groups from all over the world. They bring in jazz, symphony, they even bring in some dance groups, and they have tunable acoustics which means that they can actually set the room to match each performance perfectly. But the best part about Leighton Concert Hall is they allow students to come through and perform their works. I have a lot of friends in the dorm who have had the opportunity to do that and they are very grateful for that and it’s a great space for them.

In addition to the Leighton Concert Hall, we also have the Reyes Organ Hall, the Decio Mainstage Theatre, the Philbin Studio Theatre, and the Browning Cinema.

The Center is also home to the Department of Film, Television and Theatre as well as some faculty from the Music Department; and that’s the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.
